GLP-1 medications mimic hormones involved in appetite, digestion, and blood-sugar regulation. Depending on the medication, they may help reduce hunger, increase feelings of fullness, and slow the movement of food through the stomach.

Semaglutide acts primarily on the GLP-1 receptor. Tirzepatide acts on both the GLP-1 and GIP receptors. These medications are prescription therapies and should be used as part of a clinician-supervised weight management plan that may also include nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and behavioral support.

Individual results vary, and treatment should be personalized by a licensed healthcare
provider.

A healthcare provider will consider your medical history, current medications, weight-related health risks, previous weight management efforts, and treatment goals.

Prescription weight management medications are commonly considered for adults who have:

• A body mass index, or BMI, of 30 or greater, or
• A BMI of 27 or greater with at least one weight-related condition, such as high
  blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, or obstructive sleep apnea.

Semaglutide and tirzepatide are different medications that affect appetite and metabolic signaling.

Some patients notice changes in appetite before seeing meaningful changes on the scale. Weight management is generally evaluated over months rather than days or weeks. Your provider may monitor your response, tolerability, health measurements,
and progress before deciding whether treatment should continue or change.

Clinical trial results from FDA-approved products should not be assumed to apply to a compounded medication.

Commonly reported side effects include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Abdominal discomfort
• Indigestion or reflux
• Reduced appetite

GLP-1 medications may also carry more serious risks and are not appropriate for
everyone. Patients should tell their provider about their complete medical history, including gastrointestinal problems, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, kidney
problems, diabetes medications, pregnancy or plans for pregnancy, upcoming surgery, and any personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2.

Seek prompt medical attention for severe or persistent abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, signs of dehydration, symptoms of an allergic reaction, or another concerning reaction. Review the medication-specific prescribing information and discuss individual risks with your healthcare provider.

No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed. Compounded medications are also not FDA-approved generic drugs.

Scripx Pharmacy does not compound, prepare, repackage, or relabel sterile GLP-1 medications at its facilities. When a compounded GLP-1 medication is prescribed and legally available, it is compounded and dispensed by an independent, appropriately licensed Section 503A sterile compounding pharmacy authorized to serve the patient’s state.

The dispensing pharmacy is responsible for compounding, quality control, labeling, dispensing, and shipping the prescription directly to the patient. Its name and contact information will appear on the prescription label and accompanying materials.

Compounded medications may be prescribed only when permitted under applicable law and when a licensed healthcare provider determines that the compounded preparation is appropriate for an identified patient.
